Gypsies and her crew left New England on Labor Day Weekend 2008 and headed down the coast to the Long Island Sound. She steamed through the Sound and into the East River by New York to Sandy Hook, New Jersey. From there she steamed down to Cape May, through the Cape May Canal, to the Delaware Bay. From there she went up the Bay, through the C&D Canal into the Chesapeake Bay, where she spent the month of October.
On November 1, 2008, Gypsies entered the Intracoastal Waterway at Norfolk, Virginia. She stayed in the ICW until northern Georgia, going back outside from St. Catherine's Inlet to St. Augustine, Florida, stopping overnight at St. Simon's, Georgia, and for three nights at Fernandina, Florida. Gypsies and her crew continued down the ICW from St. Augustine to Stuart where she got some work done. From there, Gypsies and the crew will spend the rest of December and much of January in Pompano Beach. She will continue south into the Keys in mid-January, heading to Useppa Island on the west coast of Florida for a DeFever Cruisers Rendezvous the end of February before returning to the east coast for a jump to the Bahamas in March.
On March 31, 2009, Gypsies in the Palace, along with three other boats, September Song, Life's 2 Short and Lucky Stars, left Rodriguez Key for the Bahamas. We stopped the first night on the Banks between Bimini and Andros, continuing on to Chubb Cay the next morning. After a stop in Frazer's Hog Cay and Nassau we began our trip down the Exumas.
We will spend a couple of months in the Exumas before heading back to the US in mid-June. Once in the US, we will work our way north to the Chesapeake Bay to spend the rest of the summer andearly fall. From there...who knows!
